A group of preservationists who advocate and fundraise for the Historic Rapides Cemetery. Believed to have been in existence in the late 1700’s when Post Du Rapides was established. The earlier grave markers that have been located are from the early 1800s.

  1. I have recently become a member of the Central Louisiana Genealogy Society and am very interested in preserving the Rapides Cemetery. From the pictures shown you had a big success. My cousin, who lives in New Orleans and I, who live in Houston are most interested in purchasing the two books mentioned on your website. This morning I joined your Historical Rapides Cemetery group and have received email acceptance. Please advise concerning the books and any future activities planned for the cemetery.
Our ancestors, just recently found, are Layssard, Cotton, Cook, and Smith just to name a few.

  2. I am interested in having someone come and speak to our group on November 21st. If there is someone available that would give us more insight to the cemeteries of Rapides Parish, we would love to have you visit. Just finished reading about one of the cemeteries and the stories behind it…please let me know if anyone there is interested.
